About

BreakUptheBigBanks.com was founded by a group of citizens who do not want their future and their families’ futures controlled by Wall Street. Both the bailout and the subsequent “in-your-face” enormous salaries and bonuses by the very people that destroyed our lifetime of hard work are just symptoms of the real problem: the big banks have too much economic and political power. We see that the actions of the individuals who have lined their pockets with the shattered hopes and dreams of thousands of their countrymen, are both deplorable, and the logical outcome of the system in which they were involved.

That is not capitalism as Adam Smith described it. If we are going to re-take control of our lives, we cannot rely upon regulation, no matter how well intentioned.

We must restore the system to one that works for everyone.

Breaking up the big banks, and ensuring banks are never allowed to grow so large and powerful again, is the necessary foundation upon which other reforms can be built. Without it, however, all other reform, no matter how promising, will be eroded by high risk strategies that can, again, cause everything to come crashing down, protected by the endless flow of campaign cash, revolving doors from industry-to-government-and-back-to-industry, and lobbying from financial giants seeking to reclaim their former glory.

Break up the big banks for our economy, for our future, for America.
